In an attempt to elude them, Lord Shiva took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. Upon being pursued by the Pandavas, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The other portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four different places, revered as his manifestations. His arms are worshipped at Tungnath, his face at Rudranath, his belly at Madhmaheshwar, and his locks with his head at Kalpeshwar.
